Science is based on a model that presents hypotheses to explain certain phenomena and then experiments are designed to find out if those models were correct. If you look at the wisdom traditions around the planet, they have basically all put forward the hypothesis that there is an Ultimate Truth, an Absolute Truth beyond Space and Time.
However, Modern Science is based on an empirical model of observation and measurement, which means gaining knowledge of the world through our five senses. Our intellects are based on our perceptions, which are limited by our five senses. In order to reach the ultimate truth, we'll need to move beyond the intellect.
